high-quality bulk beef sold in quarters, half or whole purchases

To honor the generations that came before us, we are dedicated to keeping our farm family owned and operated. In 1993, we purchased our first beef cows, Daisy and Meg and Long Branch Cattle Company was born. We have much love and appreciation for this lifestyle and the animals that serve us. Over the years, our family and herd have grown and we are excited to share our beef by the quarter, half and whole and look with you. We raise healthy cows naturally and locally right here on our farm in Forest Hill, Maryland. Our beef comes from young Angus/Cross bred steers that live on quality hay and grain void of steroids and any additives.
Along with the financial savings from buying beef in bulk from us, you will also gain peace of mind knowing that you and your family are eating healthy, happy, grain fed beef. Our cattle are stress, hormone and medication FREE. The USDA reports that as many as 100 cows can be sourced to make up a single pound of ground beef that is sold in grocery stores. Our quarters, halves and whole purchases come from 1 healthy, well cared for and respected animal.
Call or email Barry for pricing for quarters, halves or whole cuts at 443-528-5078 or longbranchcattleco@gmail.com.

What is in retail grocery store beef? It is often culled cows. Culled cows are sick, old or injured cattle often from dairy operations. Old dairy cows suffer from organ failure, treated or untreated infections, and orthopedic or soft tissue injuries. Culled beef cows slaughtered for public consumption could be as old as 15 years. These geriatric cows normally suffer from arthritis or injury. And, like dairy cows, they are treated with heavy doses of antibiotics.

Quality steaks at the retail grocery store often come from commercial growing operations. These facilities rely heavily on growth hormone implants like Revalor or Synovex that make the animals put weight on faster. These cows may also be given other controversial feed additives like Zilmax. Zilmax promotes weight gain but often causes lameness resulting in an animal living in significant pain during the finishing process.

There are no regulations limiting the number of times retail grocery beef can be frozen and thawed before sale, leading to contamination and deterioration of its quality. Our meat is butchered locally, aged for flavor and then frozen once and delivered to you.
